The Machinist produces parts by setting up and operating manual mill machines in a safe and productive manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Setup, inspect, adjust, and operate a variety of manual mill machines.
  • Follow procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Read and understand work orders, layouts, prints, inspection criteria.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy when parts are in process.
  • Package and label completed parts for delivery to assembly lines.
  • Perform necessary secondary operations during machine cycle time as required.
  • Create and maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
  • Deburr, clean, protect, and store parts appropriately.
  • Perform daily maintenance and keep Lead and/or Supervisor informed of machine issues beyond standard operator maintenance.
  • Monitor parts dimensions using inspection equipment and adjusts or replaces tools to meet specifications and productivity expectations.
  • Inspect parts at setup and periodically per Inspection Procedures.
  • Verify part features comply with expectations using various equipment and gages including: Optical Comparator, Calipers, Micrometers, Profilometers, Depth Micrometers, Wax Impressions, Height Gages, 2D scanner, Pin gages, Go / No-go gages.
  • Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Work in a team environment and assist others when needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years CNC Turning Center experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Mazak and Mori-Seiki equipment and controls is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand CNC G-Code and Mazatrol conversational programs, as well as making edits at the machine.
  • Understand tooling requirements to set-up and operate machines.
  • Must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and proper motor skills to work with power/hand tools as needed.
  • Must have strong PC skills and ability to work on tablets, touchscreens, and other technology tools.
  • Ability to read diagrams and blueprints.
  • Basic Mathematical & Analytical Skills.
  • Communication Skills - The ability to effectively communicate, build a rapport and relate well to all kinds of people.
  • Teamwork - The ability to work effectively and productively with others. Behaves in a manner consistent with team values and mission & responds positively to feedback from team members and supervisor. Treats all people with respect, courtesy and consideration, respects differences in the attitudes and perspectives of others.
  • Safety - Practices safe work habits and encourages others to do the same. Identifies ways to improve the safety of the work environment. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures to promote effective safety operations.
  • Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility. Ability to stand for 8 hours per day.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 year degree in Machining Technology preferred.
  • Certificates in PC Skills, Measurement Skills, GD&T, Math for Machinists, Print Reading are preferred.

Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday, additional hours as needed.
