The CNC Process Engineer develops and optimizes CNC machining processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency, improve product quality, and reduce costs. They work with various teams to implement continuous improvement strategies, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that production meets quality standards. Key responsibilities include tooling design, process optimization, CNC programming, and training of machinists.

Responsibilities:
· Process Development and Optimization.
· Develop and optimize CNC machining processes for new and existing products.
· Design and implement tooling and fixtures for efficient CNC machining.
· Analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
· Create and refine CNC programs using CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, ensuring efficient tool paths and optimal surface finishes.
· Evaluate and select appropriate cutting tools and materials.
· Collaborate with Design Engineers during the NPD process. This may include discussing the manufacturability of parts, assisting with the dimensional accuracy of the print, and other related tasks.
· Update Routers/Bill of Materials (BOM) as needed
· Creation of setup sheets
· Competitive quoting of new products
· Travel is essential for this role to foster strong client relationships, attend industry conferences, or facilitate regional team collaboration.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
· Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to CNC machining processes.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent future problems.
· Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, quality control) to resolve complex issues.
· Assist with machine breakdowns to determine if the machine can be fixed in-house or needs to call outside services.
Quality Control:
· Establish and maintain quality standards and procedures for CNC machining processes.
· Assist in the implementation of inspection processes for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
· Work with the Quality Engineer on inspection of parts and how to inspect parts.
Training and Mentorship:
· Train and mentor machine operators and other personnel on CNC processes, best practices, and safety procedures.
· Develop and update training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
· Lead setup reduction initiatives by using the single minute exchange die (SMED) internal and external elements methodology.
· Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and reduce cycle times.
· Utilize statistical methods and data analysis to improve product quality and reduce costs.
· Measure equipment improvements via Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by the multiplication of three key factors: availability, performance, and quality.
Other Responsibilities:
· Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, tooling, and processes.
· Manage tooling inventory and ensure availability of necessary tools and equipment.
· Represent manufacturing/engineering on cross-functional teams.
· Stay up-to-date on the latest CNC technologies and best practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Formal Training:
· A 2-Year Vocational diploma and 10+ years of CNC programming and machining, a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, processes, and programming.
· Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, ProE).
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes, Mill-Turn & 5th axis mills is preferred.
· Experience with Mazak & DMG Mori Seiki machines is preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
· Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
· Must be able to work in non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air.
· The use of safety PPE equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe shoes, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
· Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility. Ability to stand for 8 hours per day.

The pay range for this role is USD $93,830.00/yr - $126,940.00/yr. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
