Overview

The Project Manufacturing Engineer II supports the deployment of new manufacturing projects and process improvements within assigned facilities. This role focuses on implementing new equipment, processes, and automation technologies while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, provides hands-on technical support, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including PLC programming and robotics integration.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage assigned engineering project tasks from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget under the guidance of senior engineers or managers.

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in PLC programming, robotics integration, and automation troubleshooting to support manufacturing processes and project implementation.

  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and modifying engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, operations, maintenance, procurement, and construction, to support project execution.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during all phases of project work.

  • Participate in risk assessments and assist in implementing mitigation strategies to address technical and operational challenges.

  • Prepare technical documentation, progress updates, and reports for project stakeholders.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing operations.

  • Assist with training of operators, technicians, and junior team members on new processes, robotics, and automation systems.

  • Support vendor and contractor coordination, including equipment evaluations and basic performance oversight, under the direction of senior staff.

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction in collaboration with engineering leadership.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel required (up to 25–40%) for project implementation.

  • Work performed in manufacturing environments, including non-climate-controlled facilities.

  • Must adhere to all safety requirements including PPE usage.

Education and Formal Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, project implementation, or process improvement.

  • Experience with PLCs, robotics, and automation technologies required.

  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or related methodologies preferred.
