The Compliance and Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a culture of workplace safety and compliance across the organization. This role ensures adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards, and leads proactive initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free environment. The Specialist collaborates with leadership, employees, and cross-functional teams to reduce risk, strengthen compliance practices, and foster employee engagement in safety programs.
Program Development & Implementation
· Assist with the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of safety and compliance programs that reduce workplace incidents, injuries, and workers’ compensation costs.
· Partner with the VP of Safety to align programs with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Policy Management & Compliance
· Interpret, apply, and communicate federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
· Monitor regulatory updates and proactively revise policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
· Support responses to OSHA inquiries, inspections, and reporting requirements.
Audits, Inspections & Risk Mitigation
· Conduct regular audits, facility inspections, and program reviews to identify hazards, risks, and gaps in compliance.
· Develop corrective action plans and track implementation to resolution.
· Oversee fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and response activities.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
· Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, applying root cause analysis to determine corrective measures.
· Prepare accurate and timely reports, statistics, and trend analyses to guide leadership decision-making.
Training & Engagement
· Design and deliver engaging training programs on safe work practices, job-specific hazards, emergency procedures, and compliance expectations.
· Provide onboarding safety orientation for new hires.
· Foster a culture of accountability and proactive hazard reporting across all teams.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
· Partner with department managers on facility design, equipment procurement, and process development to ensure safety considerations are integrated.
· Encourage employee participation in identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, and champion timely corrective actions.
Documentation & Systems
· Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, incidents, and compliance activities in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
· Utilize EHS and LMS systems to track compliance, generate reports, and support continuous improvement.
Other Responsibilities
· Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.
Travel Requirements: 75% Domestic travel
Working Conditions: DC Warehouse and Car Wash on site locations
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility.
Education & Experience:
· 1-3 years related experience; bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) Preferred
· Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards
· Commitment to excellence and high standards
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work with all levels of management
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
· Proficient on Word, Excel, Visio, Publisher
· Ability to manage priorities and workflow
· Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
· Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
· Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
· Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies
· Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
· Bilingual skills a plus
· GSP, CSP a plus
· First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer a plus
· OSHA 10/30 Instructor a plus
