We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Junior Robotic Welding Technician to support the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic welding systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient production by maintaining the performance and reliability of advanced robotic equipment. Ideal candidates will have a passion for technology, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
• Support the preparation and configuration of robotic welding systems, including loading programs and ensuring proper tool alignment, under the supervision of senior technicians.
• Accurately place and secure workpieces or fixtures in robotic cells according to production specifications and engineering drawings to ensure consistent and precise welds.
• Read and understand shop drawings, welding maps, welding symbols, dimensional tolerances, equipment schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to decide methods and sequences for equipment and manual operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve Robotic Welding Efficiency, ensuring program accuracy.
• Observe robotic welding operations in real time, identifying deviations or irregularities in performance, arc behavior, or weld appearance, and taking appropriate action when needed.
• Conduct inspections of finished welds using visual checks and simple measurement tools (e.g., gauges, calipers) to confirm compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks by replacing worn or used welding consumables to maintain weld quality and prevent equipment malfunctions.
• Identify and communicate issues with robotic systems or support equipment and assist maintenance or engineering teams with preliminary troubleshooting efforts.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production flow, share relevant observations, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Record inspection findings, non-conformances, and production metrics in required logs or software systems to maintain traceability and support quality control processes.
• Keep robotic welding work areas clean, organized, and free of debris, while performing basic maintenance tasks to support up time and workplace safety.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines to minimize risk and promote a safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air. The use of safety PPE equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe shoes, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not allowed.
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility for 8+ hours per day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 45lbs. Must have the ability to move across long distances (between buildings) and work around equipment with confined spaces.
• Associate’s degree in Robotics Technology, or proven equivalent experience in the related field.
• Certification(s) in welding, robotic welding, robotics technician or similar is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in robotic welding programming, preferably in manufacturing environments.
• Technical knowledge and hands-on experience on robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and programming aspects.
• Proficient in programming and troubleshooting robotic welders, and familiarity with robotic programming languages (e.g., FANUC, Yaskawa - Motoman, ABB, OTC, KUKA).
• Reads and understands weldment drawings and standard symbols.
• Deep understanding of welding processes and welding quality.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in maintenance and repair of robotic welding equipment is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, 2D & 3D CAD software, SAP is a plus.
• Experience with metal Lab. Equipment is a plus.
