Overview

The Senior Human Resources Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for HR-related matters for front-line employees, managers, and external stakeholders. This role manages issues ranging from simple to moderately complex, including employee relations, policy interpretation, disciplinary actions below final written warnings, unemployment claims, HRIS transactions, new hire and manager orientations, ethics compliance, performance appraisals, and internal communications. The Specialist keeps the Senior HR Manager informed on critical business matters and escalates more complex issues as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee HR inquiries and issues, providing policy interpretation and guidance, referring to centers of expertise as needed.
  • Administer new hire and manager HR orientations.
  • Collaborate with HR Compliance to ensure timely processing of employee changes.
  • Collaborate with HR Compliance on escalated Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Work with the Senior HR Manager on employee changes leading to terminations, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and promote company policies and procedures. Conduct exit interviews for employees who are individual contributors, report trends and insights to the Senior HR Manager, and recommend action where necessary.
  • Collaborate with managers to determine and document appropriate disciplinary actions, alongside Sr. HR Manager.
  • Conduct and document simple to moderate workplace investigations, alongside Sr. HR Manager.
  • Review performance evaluations and provide coaching to managers; assist in tracking the timely completion of evaluations.
  • Partner with the Corporate Recruiter to manage job postings and update the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Collaborate with managers to assess required skills and competencies for new hires and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Assist with the development of job descriptions.
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits, administration of FMLA, disability, and other leave programs in partnership with our Benefits Team as needed.
  • Support engagement activities, including company-wide events, open enrollment, and employee activities.
  • Coordinates Above & Beyond Recognition program for site.
  • Lead or assist with special projects as assigned by HR leadership.
  • Answer incoming calls, directing to the appropriate department, and taking messages.
  • Welcome visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 3+ years HR Experience
  • HR Certifications preferred (PHR, SHRM-SCP)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and HRIS system(s)
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated to execute with minimal direction
  • Travel will be required as needed

Compensation:

The pay range for this role is USD $65,520/Yr. - $88,620/Yr. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training and experience.
