Overview

We are seeking a Manager of Production Control and Inventory to lead a team of analysts responsible for using data analysis and business acumen to identify opportunities and spearhead initiatives that optimize costs, maximize service, and improve the sustainability of our operations through effective inventory management. Additionally, this role includes overseeing production control planners responsible for day-to-day tactical production control planning, scheduling, material flow, and monitoring to achieve delivery dates and optimize production control processes. This individual will work closely with peer groups in Operations, Logistics, and Sales to design and implement new processes or make changes to existing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Purchasing Teams develop new process and solutions focused on improving overall inventory accuracy throughout the operations.
  • Oversee and lead a team of Inventory Analysts responsible for supporting the business, investigating reasons for inventory discrepancies and driving both containment actions & long-term corrective actions to improve overall inventory accuracy across the business.
  • Ensure Inventory discrepancies are handled and resolved with a high-level of urgency to minimize impact on the operations (Production & Shipping).
  • Lead Projects focused on improving overall inventory management across the business; including but not limited to SAP Improvements across Receiving, Production & Shipping related solutions. Participate & lead system solutions across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) as required.
  • Oversee the design and development of inventory management metrics and reports to support business requirements and play a key role in Business Process Design and Improvement.
  • Take ownership of Inventory work with cross functional teams to ensure items are set up correctly in Tamarac manufacturing to ensure high-level of service to the operations; ensure Master Data is setup accordingly to support the business needs.
  • Partner with Cost Accounting team to ensure proper processes are in place, with correct delegations of authority between the Operations and Finance Teams.
  • Direct and manage the planners in planning and scheduling activities utilizing a PC based MRP software system. Set the necessary system parameters in MRP for the best fit replenishment and scheduling method.
  • Monitor and review performance against the established schedule.
  • Communicate necessary changes to operations leaders to ensure alignment.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor inventory levels, demand patterns, and supply chain performance.
  • Ensure planners update safety stock levels, reorder points, and fixed lot sizes according to new PFEP (Plan for every part) guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on PFEP principles and inventory management techniques.
  • Drive production control meeting with operations, sales, purchasing.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales and Operations to facilitate communication and coordination of production needs.
  • Review system generated reports to take the appropriate action for root cause and corrective actions.
  • Direct and drive continuous improvement related to data integrity, inventory turns, cycle counts, cost reductions, and material control.
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of production control and inventory management practices.
  • Driving cost avoidance and cost savings in inventory management involves implementing strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Effectively driving and managing physical inventory
  • Responsible for leading key inventory management improvement initiatives and provide data driven insight and resolution recommendations.
  • Work across functional groups and ensure success; drive change management by understanding, communicating, and managing changes associated with system enhancements, implementations, and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within inventory management and supply chain operations. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborates with cross functional business partners to effect process improvements, implement process change, business strategy analysis, and application of information technology.
  • Supports growth by operating from a strategic perspective; evaluates and pursues business process improvement opportunities based on their fit with broader strategies across the supply chain.
  • Perform business operations including employee management, training, and staffing.
  • Handle employee complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
  • Hold regular meetings with department staff.
  • Identify staffing needs, interview, hire and train staff and maintain a steady stream of qualified candidates.
  • Provide guidance, training, and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance on a frequent basis.
  • Lead by example, evaluate departmental workload requirements and stay late when needed.
  • Enforce housekeeping standards.
  • Manage, develop, and monitor the progress of personnel.
  • Identify training requirements and train where needed.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and turn in by due date.
  • Manage personnel scheduling of workload, breaks, lunches, and vacations.
  • Identify and rectify safety concerns.
  • Participate and lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives; Challenge the Status Quo and strive for excellence across the team.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Logistics required.
  • Certifications (CSCP, CPIM, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, etc.)…desired.
  • 5+ years experience in Manufacturing, strong data analytics and reporting
  • Experience with large scale cross-functional projects
  • Ability to lead in ambiguous situations
  • Management Experience - Employee Reviews, Employee Relations, Training, Hiring, Terminating & Developing.
