Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the design of production machinery and will identify and recommend solutions to production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Senior engineering managers oversee the project team to ensure each phase is completed accurately, on time, and within budget. They coordinate with the company’s marketing and sales departments to determine what products or services are offered to clients and then develop those offerings to specifications. As a senior engineering manager, you may also need to troubleshoot equipment or software.

Responsibilities

· Designs tools and machines used to manufacture products.

· Reviews production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; makes recommendations for repairs or replacement.

· Oversees the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.

· Installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery.

· Prepares operations manuals for new or existing equipment.

· Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Conduct ongoing lean transformations to reduce waste and maintain a lean culture

· Provide overall Lean leadership and simplification to key areas of supply chain

· Work with the operating leaders to develop strategic deployment planning specific goals and priorities that drive lean principles and concept across the business

· Supports the Operations, Engineering, and Business Areas in a team-based manufacturing environment

· Manage, develop, and engage team members on engagements by providing immediate feedback and assessing performance at year-end reviews

· Strive to continuously improve by attending professional development initiatives, networking events, and training seminars

· Actively contribute to talent acquisition

· Evaluates, creates and improves manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials

· Develop, implement, maintain, and improve current manufacturing processes, including equipment, documentation, training, gages and tooling/fixtures, to optimize quality, productivity and cost performance

· Interface regularly with the manager and manufacturing engineers to assure clear and concise communication in a leadership role

· Identify and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing process problems through testing, evaluation, and analysis

· Lead the design for manufacturability process, prepares process FMEAs, root cause analyses, plans facility, equipment, and resource changes and initial product builds, and ensure that Manufacturing deliverables to Development Project Plans are completed and on time

· Plan, specify, select, validate and implement new equipment, processes and facilities in manufacturing

· Perform planning, development, facilitation of design and installation of high-volume Manufacturing equipment, systems and processes

· Engage with the appropriate personnel in the identification and resolution of Corrective/Preventative actions to address Safety, Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing issues

· Control pilot projects (document issues, materials)

Qualifications

· BS Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering required

· Certifications (PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, etc.) preferred.

· 3-5 years work experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment

· Deep lean manufacturing expertise including standard work, workstation design, 5S & visual management

· Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes

· Must have experience operating in a Quality Management System

· Demonstrated project management effectiveness in manufacturing environments

· Self-starting problem solver able to work under minimal supervision

· Must have strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

· Must be proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs

· History of progressive responsibility preferred

· SAP ERP System knowledge a Strong Plus (BOMs / Routers)

· Knowledge and previous experience with robot welding programming

· Knowledge of CNC programming required(Master cam)
