Overview

SONNY’S currently has an opening for a Category Manager for Indirect spend. This role develops and executes global procurement strategies for all indirect categories including HR, IT, Utilities, Operational supplies, Professional Services, Capital, Travel, etc. across the enterprise. The Category Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Souring. You will be responsible for developing and managing a strong partnership with our business segments, functional leaders, plants, distribution centers and their teams to develop and execute sourcing strategies to support our corporate and organizational goals in a cost-effective manner. By leveraging yours and the team’s capabilities in strategic sourcing strategy planning and execution, you will ensure that SONNY’S is maximizing the value by driving to the lowest total cost of ownership, increasing the quality-of-service delivery, and minimizing operational risks. You will also support the growth of the business, manage global supplier relationships to ensure strategic alignment and sustainability, oversee suppliers to continuously improve quality, delivery, and price to support supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

· Develop and implement sourcing strategies to drive efficiencies, optimize total cost, and alignment to business goals.

· Rationalize and leverage spend across the supply base for Indirect categories. Deploy appropriate negotiation techniques (e.g. RFI, RFP, Auctions, targeted negotiations, etc.).

· Develop negotiation strategies and lead or participate in negotiations with suppliers on price, delivery, terms, project timing, SLAs and issue resolution.

· Project manage the sourcing team through the process to define the need, identify suppliers, go-to-market, analyze proposals, selection of suppliers and implementation.

· Partner with all business segments and functions to understand key categories, suppliers and opportunities. Work with them to ensure supplier performance through contracts, service level agreements, SOWs, KPIs and leading business reviews.

· Proactively give strategic guidance to the business based on a deep understanding of business needs and analyses of data and trends.

· Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continuous performance expectations are met and year over year productivity targets are achieved by conducting proper supplier management techniques, Conducts and leads business reviews with key suppliers.

· Initiate, negotiate and manage contracts through their life cycle.

· Work with consultants for best-in-class solutions.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Have earned Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering related field. Master’s degree preferred.

• Have 5+ years sourcing experience with considerable understanding of procurement concepts, principles and at least 3+ years of commodity or category management and Strategic Sourcing experience.

• APICS or CAPM certification a plus.

• ERP experience required, SAP is a plus.

• Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills required.

• Have experience and developing & executing commodity strategy and category leadership role (e.g. responsible for multiple businesses within a company, spend over $50M and/or multi-site experience).

• Have deep understanding of multiple categories within the Indirect space. Direct sourcing and tactical Procurement experience is a plus.

• Have familiarity with contracts and experience negotiating key terms.

• Have experience working within a structured sourcing process.

• Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills across all organizational levels, both internally and within supplier organizations.

• Exhibit a high degree of autonomy with the ability to work effectively in a team environment to pull disparate pieces together across the organization and "get things done".

• Have the ability to partner with department leaders to identify, create, and plan capabilities necessary to meet short and long-term business needs.

• Demonstrate a continuous improvement ethos; ability to identify areas of opportunity and positively influence business decisions.

• Be able to travel up to 30% of time.
