Overview

The Assembly Supervisor is a working leader that directs and coordinates manufacturing and assembly of products by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring workflow. The Assembly Supervisor also uses Lean/Six Sigma tools to monitor, measure and optimize team and process performance to develop scalable standard operating procedures to meet company growth objectives.

Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP

  1. Directly supervise employees in the Assembly Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  2. Resolve worker grievances or submit unsettled grievances to Director of Operations or HR for action.
  3. Manage and update Training record of assembly staff in accordance to ISO 9001 standards

 

PRODUCTION PLANNING

  1. Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product needs/acquisition, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  2. Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  3. Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  4. Compile, store and retrieve production data.

 

PROBLEM SOLVING

  1. Troubleshoot equipment issues on the shop floor and drive resolution
  2. Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

 

PROCCESS IMPROVEMENT/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  1. Identify and lead manufacturing projects that improve product flow.
  1. Write work instructions for optimal equipment operation and process flow when and where needed.
  1. Drive improvement actions from collecting and analyzing operational data and metrics.
  2. Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  1. Establishes, drives and monitors 6S activities throughout the Assembly Department.

Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree in related field.
  2. 4+ years of manufacturing plant experience
  3. Previous experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
  4. Analyzes problems, identifies issues, establishes priorities and accomplishes outcomes in a sequential fashion; anticipates needs and develops alternative courses of action in recognition of changing conditions.
  5. Acquires training or skills to apply up-to-date knowledge to achieve results; demonstrates innovativeness in applying leading edge technology and/or new procedures and approaches.
  6. Willingly accepts responsibility and performs expected and unexpected tasks as needed.  Demonstrates initiative and tenacity; exerts extra effort when necessary to get the job done.   Performs effectively under stressful conditions.
  7. Expresses ideas and concerns clearly both verbally and in writing.  Works and interacts with and is supportive of co-workers.  Sacrifices self-interest when necessary to accomplish group goals.  Keeps others properly informed and solicits opinion and feedback of other team members.
  8. Provides guidance and willingly helps and/or acts as a resource in obtaining assistance. Interacts appropriately and respectfully with vendors, customers, peers and subordinates.  Promotes a positive company image.
  9. Performs work consistent with expected standards of performance; exhibits accuracy, thoroughness and effectiveness, etc. in carrying out work duties.
  10. Proficient in MS Office suite and ERP systems
  11. Must be able to work in a standing position 50% of the time.
  12. Must be able to lift 60 lbs.
